MT. ARLINGTON POLICE...SAVED!!

The SaveMAPD campaign officially started in June, 2007. I decided to start the campaign after learning that the Mt. Arlington council and mayor hired a consulting firm to undertake a study which could lead to the disbandment of the police department.

So, what is my motivation for undertaking a campaign such as this?  Here are a few pieces of information about me:

  • I have several close acquaintances and friends who are officers with the Mt. Arlington Police Department.  These officers are honorable and of good character-  I wish them to have the job security they deserve.  I have, and will continue to keep a close relationship with the department throughout this campaign.

  • My mother, father and grandmother, currently reside in Mt. Arlington and have been residents for over 30 years.  I wish to see them remain as safe and as well protected as they have been for the past 30 years.

  • I think town identity is defined by the beliefs of its residents, school system, police force, etc.  Unlike elected officials, the police officers often remain in the same town for the duration of their careers. I believe Mt. Arlington will lose a large part of its "town identity" if we disband our police department in lieu of shared service agreement with another town.

  • I was a resident of Mt. Arlington for over 20 years and have a vested interest in seeing the town flourish; currently, I am residing in the neighboring town of Roxbury.  Since the Roxbury Twp. PD is being considered as an alternative to "taking over" for the MAPD, I am also concerned about over-burdening the Roxbury P.D.

  • I have a Bachelors degree in computer science as well an MBA from Rutgers University.  In addition to my educational background, I have 10+ years experience with corporate marketing campaigns.  My educational background, work experience and vested interest in Mt. Arlington will allow me to build and maintain a solid marketing campaign.

I believe that I have the qualifications, motivation and experience necessary to help.   However, we need your help in order to save the Mt. Arlington Police Department.

Yours Truly,

David Rubenstein
